When is a freezer box needed?
For a short overnight wait, a freezer box is not always required. In many normal cases, when cremation is fixed for early morning and the waiting time is only one night, families may keep the body at home without freezer support.
A freezer box is recommended when the wait becomes longer, the weather is hot, the body has to be kept beyond 12 hours, relatives are arriving late, or early signs of decomposition have started. The decision should be based on body condition, room temperature, and expected cremation time.
8–12 hours
Usually manageable if the body condition is good and cremation is early morning.
Hot room / delay
Use a freezer box if the room is warm or the cremation timing is uncertain.
Longer wait
For more than one night, preservation support is strongly recommended.
Clear rule: If the death happened in the evening and cremation is confirmed for early morning, freezer support may not be necessary. If the wait is extended or the body condition changes, arrange a freezer box immediately.
