Which rituals are usually performed?
The exact sequence can change by region, caste, family tradition, and priest. Most families complete the essential rites before the stretcher or bamboo bier is moved to the electric chamber.
Body preparationBathing or cleansing, clean clothes, sacred thread or family dress, tilak, flowers, and a white covering.
Sankalp and mantrasThe priest records the family's intention, gotra, and name, then guides the final prayers.
Final offeringsFlowers, sesame, water, ghee, camphor, or other samagri are used only as permitted by the facility.
Final farewellFamily members complete darshan, pradakshina, and the chief mourner’s final symbolic duty.
Facility rule: Open flames, large quantities of ghee, wood, coconuts, or loose materials may be restricted near an electric furnace. The priest adjusts the ritual without changing its purpose.
After Cremation
What happens after electric cremation?
After the chamber cycle and cooling process, the crematorium releases the asthi according to its operating schedule. Families then continue the same post-cremation duties that follow traditional cremation.

Asthi VisarjanImmersion is arranged at a permitted river, sea, ghat, or sacred water body.
